Fort Lewis College recently unveiled a new mural titled "Indigenous Futurity" in celebration of Native American Heritage Month. The mural, created by five students from different tribal nations, depicts the past, present, and future of Indigenous experiences.

The students discussed the challenges and rewards of working on the project, highlighting the importance of honoring Indigenous history and resilience while also looking toward a brighter future. The mural is intended to provide a sense of belonging for Native students and serve as a reminder of the rich cultural heritage of Indigenous peoples.

Fort Lewis College has also hosted a variety of events throughout Native American Heritage Month, including performances by Indigenous punk rock bands and discussions about Indigenous nutrition and healthcare. The college will conclude the month's festivities with a pop-up shop featuring works by Indigenous artists.
