New Durango City Councilors Sworn In

By Sarah Flower

Durango City Council officially has two newly elected councilors. Ballots cast in this year's election were the lowest turnout in the last several years.

Gilda Yazzie and Dave Woodruff are officially the newest councilors to join the Durango City council. They were both sworn in at last night's city council meeting. Also sworn in were Councilor Melisssa Youseff as Mayor and Councilor Jessika Buell as mayor pro tem.

With two open seats, Yazzie was the top vote-getter, and four votes separated the second seat between Woodruff and Harrison Wendt.

With only 34 percent of registered voters casting their votes this year, it was the lowest voter turnout in the last three election cycles.
